The Founder

Pamela Mulumby is a Kenyan-born award-winning journalist, who is based in the United States. She was the winner of the 1999 African Journalist of the Year Award. Mulumby was the first African woman to win the coveted award and won for a series of articles she wrote about life in the slums and squatter camps in Nairobi and in nearby rural areas.

 Mulumby is the publisher of East Africa in Focus (www.eafricainfocus.com), a news web site, which publishes stories from East African citizenry.  She also writes business stories for the Columbia Daily Tribune and has also worked for The Morning Call and The Columbia Missourian in the U.S. Mulumby has also served as an editor for Ajabu Africa and assistant editor for Global Journalist Magazine also in the U.S.

Mulumby was a features writer for the East African Standard before relocating to the U.S.

 She holds a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism from the prestigious Missouri School of Journalism.
